Story #25: A Story Still Being Written

You may remember Alexis’s story from one of our Christmas updates several years ago.

In 2020, Alexis came to Women’s Pregnancy Center facing an unexpected pregnancy, significant stress, and pressure from her baby’s father to have an abortion. She met with Kay, one of our client advocates, who listened, encouraged her, and made sure she had the information she needed.

After receiving a positive pregnancy test, Alexis told Kay she didn’t need to hear any more about her options. She had made her decision. A shared that she believed God had spoken to her, and she had decided to parent.

When she returned for her ultrasound, A brought family members with her. Together, they saw a healthy, precious baby on the screen.

On August 29, 2020, Karter was born.

Then — 2020 Karter at two months old!

Six years later, we have the joy of seeing more of their story.

Alexis is raising her son as a single mom, with the support of her mom and grandmother. They have continually reminded her of God’s love and helped provide a foundation of faith for her son.

Last week, she sent Kay pictures of Karter as he started first grade. For Kay, it was a beautiful reminder of the little boy she first saw on an ultrasound screen—and of the relationship that has continued through the years.

With her son now in school full-time, Alexis is also beginning a new chapter. She plans to return to school and pursue her associate’s degree.

This is what abundant life looks like: a decision to choose life, a family surrounded by support, and a foundation of faith that continues to shape the story.

Alexis’ story didn’t end when she chose to parent. Today, she is raising her son, watching him grow, and taking steps toward new goals of her own.

This is why these stories matter.

And this is why your support matters.

Your generosity helps ensure that when a woman facing an unexpected pregnancy walks through our doors, she finds a safe place, compassionate support, and someone willing to walk beside her.

Would you consider making a gift today to help us continue walking alongside women and families and reaching beyond to the next story?

Every gift helps make stories like Alexis’s possible.

For Life,

Val Reed
