Story #13: A Beautiful Moment in Our Parenting Class
One of the life-affirming services we offer our clients is our Parenting Program. Our in-person parenting class meets on Thursday evenings for eight weeks at WPC. During that time, expectant parents gain valuable parenting education while also earning “Baby Bucks” to use in our boutique for needed baby items.
A couple of years ago, one of our parenting classes consisted mostly of couples, except for one single mom, Maggie, who attended on her own. Each week, Maggie faithfully came to class, although she was often quiet and reserved.
The final class of each eight-week session is always special. Our parenting team provides a meal for everyone to enjoy together, and participants look forward to using their Baby Bucks in the boutique.
That evening, one couple arrived with a large donation of baby clothes, diapers, and other baby items they had received from others. Feeling they had more than they needed, they wanted to bless the other parents in the class by sharing what they had. The items were placed on a table for everyone to choose from, but the group encouraged Maggie to go first.
Then something even more meaningful happened.
This same couple also had an extra forty-five Baby Bucks they knew they would not need, so they decided to give them to Maggie. Seeing this act of generosity, another couple donated their extra Baby Bucks to her as well. Maggie was overwhelmed by the love, kindness, and support shown to her that evening. What a beautiful gift.
The generosity shown to Maggie made a difference in more ways than one. Through the support of caring people like you and the many faithful friends of this ministry, moms and dads in our Parenting Program receive practical help, encouragement, and the baby items they need to welcome their precious children into the world.
If you would like to help us continue supporting expectant parents, there are several ways you can make an impact. Donations of baby items help us keep our boutique stocked for families in need, and financial gifts allow us to continue offering parenting classes, material assistance, ultrasounds, and compassionate care to the women and families we serve every day.
If you would like to donate baby items directly, you can shop from our Amazon Wish List by clicking here! Every gift — whether practical items or financial support — helps provide hope, encouragement, and tangible support to parents in our community.
