Story #12: Supporting Moms Changes Lives

When Veronica came for her first appointment at Women’s Pregnancy Center, she was considering abortion because she was single, unemployed, and not sure how she would parent her baby alone. And to cope with those struggles, she was drinking and smoking daily. Her mother joined her for the appointment that day and was very supportive, encouraging, and hopeful that Veronica would choose to parent her baby. But after seeing her baby’s image on ultrasound, Veronica still left undecided.

About a week later, Veronica and her mom returned for a second ultrasound. But this time, Veronica was different. She said she had completely quit drinking and smoking, and she had decided to parent her baby! Her words were, “Becoming a mom made everything change for me.” The realization that she was now a mom had truly impacted her and compelled her to change. Veronica was thrilled to see her baby on the ultrasound and is looking forward to parenting. What a miracle! She shared with us that her mom had been a great motivator for her during this time. She also plans to attend our parenting classes, and we look forward to continuing to support her on her parenting journey.

As we just celebrated Mother’s Day this past weekend, Veronica’s story is a beautiful reminder of the powerful influence a mother’s love and encouragement can have. We are so grateful to be able to provide support for our clients every day, and we know how life-changing it can be when women are surrounded by ongoing support from family, friends, and their community. This is why we offer our parenting classes — so we can continue walking alongside our clients throughout their pregnancies and into motherhood, especially those who may not have support at home.

Your support makes stories like Veronica’s possible. When you give to Women’s Pregnancy Center, you help provide ultrasounds, parenting education, material assistance, and compassionate care to moms who need hope and support during a difficult season. Thank you for helping us continue to serve women, babies, and families in our community.
