Staff Patient Advocate
Status: Non-exempt, Part-Time 12-16 hours per week +additional hours as needed (subject to change)
Hours: Vary; may include occasional evening hours based on clinic needs
About Education for Life: Founded in 1981, Education for Life is a faith based pro-life ministry. Because all people have inherent value, we promise compassionate care while providing education through medically accurate, truthful information surrounding the ongoing physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of sexual health and pregnancy decisions to women, men, and families.
Job Position Summary: : The Patient Advocate provides options counseling to women facing unplanned pregnancies at Education for Life’s medical clinic, Women’s Pregnancy Center. This role focuses on offering one-on-one support in an atmosphere of compassion and respect while supporting the mission of the organization.

Direct Supervision: Sr. Manager of Patient Services
Organizational Oversight: Executive Director

Qualifications:
Is a committed Christian who demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ with evidence of Christian maturity in personal and professional life.
Expresses full agreement with EFL’s Statement of Faith and Code of Christian Conduct and is willing to adhere to and uphold the organization’s policies and procedures.
Holds a consistent life-affirming position and exhibits strong commitment and dedication to the pro-life position.
Is dependable and committed to the ministry of EFL.
Has a teachable spirit and functions well in a team environment.
Possesses exceptional interpersonal skills to interact with clients, coworkers, and volunteers.
Has strong verbal and written communication skills.
Has lay counseling experience.
Skilled in interpersonal communication, empathy for helping others, present, and an exceptional listener with problem-solving skills to provide emotional support.
Able to maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality with patient information.
Possesses basic computer/technology knowledge and has aptitude to learn database programs and systems.
Is willing to complete EFL/WPC and ongoing training, including role-specific certifications.
Bilingual a plus.
Essential Functions of the Staff Patient Advocate: Perform the following duties in accordance with EFL Policies and Procedures.
• Follow all EFL Policies and Procedures with specific attention to patient intake, record keeping, and patient follow up.
• Meet one-on-one with a patient to assess needs, provide coaching regarding needs and options.
• Provide accurate information on abortion, parenting, and adoption.
• Offer support, material resources, and referrals appropriate to a patient’s situation.
• Support the ministry’s faith-based mission through spiritual conversations, prayer, and sharing the gospel with patients as appropriate.
• Assist with end of the day cleaning.
Other:
Attend scheduled staff and in-service meetings.
Serve as a representative of EFL when requested.
Other duties and responsibilities as designated by the Sr. Mgr. of Client Services and/or Executive Director.
Participate in major EFL fundraising events.
